Brooklyn Cap Try III

If at first you don't succeed try, try again. This the third time Rising Moon has been pointed to the Brooklyn but the first year he made the entry box. Last year he was nominated but was not entered. He couldn't make the race in 2007 either after winning the prep for the Brooklyn over 2003 Derby hero Funny Cide. You have to give Dutrow credit for sticking with the horse and he finally made the race on the third try. After a long layoff he returned last out looking a bit overweight and wearing two aluminum pads. Some could look at this as a negative, I look at it as room for improvement. Surprisingly he ran well off that long layoff and gave graded winner Dry Martini all he could handle in the lane. That race may set him up for today's Brooklyn Handicap. The track is sure to be sloppy with heavy rains in the forecast all day. If Rising Moon races today and is not listed with aluminum pads he looks like a live price in the 12 furlong Brooklyn.

Going to feature the Moon in the Brooklyn/ Belmont daily double which will be expressed in multiple tickets.

Suburban Handicap GI

Rising Moon is chomping on the bit to get to the winners circle. We have all-important confirmed distance ability as Rising Moon won going longer last year over the track. In addition we get second off layoff form with the ability to track a soft pace. This horse is well meant in a field of afterthoughts. This will be the play of the day.

Brooklyn Handicap Winner Rising Moon

Will Dutrow wheel Rising Moon back in 7 days? If he does bring him back he is a very likely winner in the Brooklyn. Rising Moon won for fun yesterday.

With the combination of 2nd off layoff form and proven twelve furlong ability he has every right to win with ease in the Brooklyn. He is a more likely winner than his more famous stablemate the next day. The barn was down on this horse as he opened up at 2-5 yesterday. The owner flew in from some foreign country and was on-hand in the paddock. Judging by the opening price it looks like the groom, Dutrow and the owner cashed some big win tickets. The horse was dappled, calm cool and collected through the whole process. Even the gallop out was strong.
