The 15th of September 2001 is the day 11 year old gelding Spooky Mulder broke his maiden at first asking at Turfway in a 30K maiden claimer. 8 years, 81 races and 33 wins later he is still racing. He is entered at Belmont on Saturday for a 35K tag as a main track only in a 6 furlong turf sprint. He is an amazing gelding and I don't think I know of a horse that has given so much for so long at the track.

I was thrilled to see Spooky's entry in my virtual stable today. He is also entered in Delaware on Monday in a $30k claimer at 6 furlongs. I'd guess he will go at Belmont, as that's where he is stabled and the purse is $10k higher.

....That is, of course if it rains in NY and the race comes off the turf. The forecast looks that way right now.

Spooky was scratched out of the Belmont race. He ran a few days later at Delaware and was beat less than a length running 2nd.
